Red Queen helps support young hackers with Lego
We help the CyberWyoming Alliance ship hacker-focused educational Lego kits for students as part of WyoGives. Plus, we're giving away a Lego PAC-MAN Arcade Cabinet set.
Helping young people learn and grow tech skills and discover which pursuits engage them matters to everyone who works at Red Queen. Cybersecurity certainly isn't getting less important as time goes on. That's why we're thrilled to be able to support the CyberWyoming Alliance's participation in Wyoming’s Day of Giving (WyoGives).
CyberWyoming & Laura Baker's Lego Models and Magic Puzzles Challenge has been shipping whole suitcases of Lego integrated with computers and lights to teachers around Wyoming, making it east to provide hands-on tech & cybersecurity lessons grounded in practical play. These substantial classroom kits contain a variety of standard Lego bricks, Lego lights and motors, and computers, providing opportunities to teach principles of engineering, electronics, networking, and cybersecurity attack & defense to students at a variety of ages.
We chose to support this project because it's deeply aligned with our mission of replacing cybersecurity anxiety with clarity along with our vision of empowering & uplifting security & economic wellbeing. We are a matching sponsor for shipping these hefty suitcases out to educators across Wyoming. Which means that if you support CyberWyoming's fundraiser now, you can potentially double or triple the value of your contribution.
But wait! There's more! We will also be giving away a Lego PAC-MAN Arcade Cabinet set to one person who makes a contribution to the CyberWyoming Alliance Lego Models and Magic Puzzles Challenge and signs up for this newsletter here on LinkedIn or via email before the fundraiser ends. More details at the end of the letter.
I (Tilde) have been a lifelong fan of Lego. Assembling and enjoying Lego sets has been a lifelong source of joy, learning, & relaxation for me. I'm thrilled that the CyberWyoming Alliance has combined education, hacking, and Lego into such an inspiring project. A huge thank you to Laura Baker for letting us contribute to such a project so close to our hearts. And hey, we made it into a local news article in the Torrington Telegram, how cool is that?
Minifig Hacker
The illustration for this letter is from Minifigs.me's Hacker Minibuild Custom Design Tiles. The kit contains instructions for the build as well as custom tiles for a USB Rubber Ducky, WiFi Pineapple and control interface, printed circuit board (or clear-case Flipper Zero? You decide), extremely loud clicky keyboard, packet capture log, Red Hat desktop with Tor icon, and a terminal window. (We don't have any connection with any of the stuff linked in this paragraph, and they aren't affiliate links, I just wanted to share.)
Do you know about other cool Lego-adjacent stuff which I'd be excited to hear about? Show off your esoteric Lego tips so that everyone else who reads this letter knows how cool and smart and in-the-know you are.
We're Giving Away a Cool Lego Set
Here are the details on the Lego PAC-MAN Arcade Cabinet.
To be eligible, you must (1) give (any amount) to the Lego Models and Magic Puzzles Challenge fundraiser, (2) sign up to receive this newsletter on LinkedIn or via email before the fundraiser ends, and (3) send me (Tilde) an email which (3a) has the phrase "Lego Fundraiser Gift" in the subject line, (3b) includes evidence (such as screenshots) that you completed steps 1 & 2, & (3b) has a valid return address. If you include a cool Lego-related fact, tip, or build in your email, that will not affect your eligibility, but it might make me smile. If your email doesn't reach my inbox for any reason, that's tough luck, sorry — I just can't be responsible for infinite range of things which can go wrong with email.
To participate, you have to be an adult, it must be legal for me to send you a Lego set, and the place you live must not forbid this sort of gift (looking at you, Quebec). You must not be a person for whom this sort of gift under these circumstance might create the appearance of impropriety (which might include being government employee who could make a decision about Red Queen). You must not be employed by or affiliated with Red Queen Dynamics.
Shortly after the fundraiser ends, we will randomly select one from among the valid entries and contact you to send you the Lego set. We will cover shipping within the US. If you are outside the US, you will be responsible for shipping. If this particular Lego set is not available where you are, we may substitute a Lego set of similar or greater value. You may also (in your email) request an alternative Lego set of similar or lesser value, we will consider but we do not promise to honor this sort of request. There is no cash alternative.
This isn't associated with Lego, or anyone else outside Red Queen Dynamics, I just think it would be neat to give away this Lego set!
